The week that was

The above video is actually the radio programme that I hosted, with some song requests from some of you. Apologies I couldnt play all as we ran out of time - but if you have time do enjoy the chit chat. The pictures I pasted in the video was to enable me to post mp3 on blogspot.

*************************************************************************************

I believe I have lost a week and need to recover. It all started with a trip to Manchester for the Manchester Games, which I thoroughly enjoyed – being among the students there, watching them play and enjoying the food at their food court. But it was all work, work, work. Then, back in London, as you know, we had some very important visitors in town, thus the new baju being flown in from KL.

I am sorry I can't publish any of those photos here as we were not allowed to take pictures. But it was a pleasant enough dinner and suffice to say, I didn’t trip or do anything outrageous as I was introduced.

The following day was indeed hectic – it was the event at Harrods. Oooh, so many celebs – and VVIP’s – I saw Lady Raine Spencer (Princess Di's stepmom) walking around saying hello to everyone and then suddenly she walked over and paid compliments to my dress which I bought at KL Sentral! Haha – if only she knew that it cost only £10!

Dt JC was busy with Nancy DellO’llio, and Datuk Bernard Chandran and wife were also there..some of the pictures I’ve put in the video as apparently that’s what I have to do to publish the Radio programme I did last Sunday, That’s another story :–

In the studio with me was also Khalid Din, an old friend of mine who is also, what I consider a cultural Ambassador to Europe. It was a good interview and I managed to play a few songs that you have requested. Unfortunately, there were lot of adverts so, we had to play that and we soon ran out of time.

The song Kekasih at the end was cut short but will remedy that when I come back from work later.

Ps. I dont think I can do more with the song as it took a good three hours to post and publish the whole thing.

Komen Pak Malim, kucing ray yg alim, bersama kawannya Si Goblok, yg datang membawa golok.

Kak Teh! I herd U on the radio again! Kata Pak Malim sambil minum formula weight gain. Wooo Hoooo! What can I say! Kata Pak Malim sambil makan tosay. I LOVE U! I LOVE U! kata Pak Malim sambil memegang ikan puyu.

Eh, kamu ni, Pak Malim! Buat malu orang aje! Kata kawannya si Goblok sambil duduk atas meja. Takde finesse lansung! Kata si Goblok sambil memegang lesung.

Kak Teh pasang lagu Cik Cik Ke Cik Ke Bum, mari kita menari! Kata Pak Malim sambil naik lori.

Kelihatan Pak Malim dan Si Goblok, sedang menari atas lori.

Thoroughly enjoyed that week's Sounds of Malaysia. What an opening by Kak Pah, and everybody sounded so chirpy. Absolutely agree with you that Khalid Din is a dedicated and committed proponent of the traditional Malay dance. He has invested time to train the Sri Bulan and money to buy costumes and accessories.

hmmmmm....Kak Teh dear,

Listining to your voice you reminds me of Alyarhama Ibu Siti Hawa Zain 6 am morning show at Radio Malaysia then.
Dikejutnya kami 'anak-anak rakyat' supaya segera bangun kesekolah.
Her voice, walaupun tak pernah jumpa tapi akan diingati sepanjang hayat.

QOTH, it was a hectic one week and i only recovered after several hours of sleep. Penaaaaaat!

Madam Gold, yes, i was there and TV cameras were everywhere. And security was also tight.

You can follow the radio programme through the video i posted here.

GUiKP, so you listened as well?? aaah thanks. Yes, Khalid is very dedicated and so passionate about our culture.

Pak Tuo, macam mana suara siti hawa zain tu...kak teh pun tak pernah dengar. Dia mak adibah amin, kan?

SkyJuice....thanksssssssssss!!!! Youthful???

Kak Teh sejauh peringatan saya, suaranya Mak Iti ie.Allahyarham Ibu Siti Hawa Zain,Soprano, kedalam bila mengeluarkan ayat-ayat seakan-akan halkumnya ada mutiara.
Ianya saperti suara seseornag yang baru bangun dipagi hari.
Amat-amat cermat mengeluarkan perkataannya.

Mungkin keadaan masyarakat waktu zaman 60'an amat da'if keadaannya.

Another gem in the crowd. Her english collum does improve our English at school.Even our English assignment was based on her writing in the paper.

I find an intresting link

Sunggu merdu suara mu :)
Saya pasti kalau Kak Teh belum berpunya, dah tentu ramai di luar sana yang tidur tak lena.
Both of us listened to your programme dan buat seketika, hilang juga rindu kat tanahair.

Kak Teh said...

Pak Tuo, terima kasih kerana penjelasan yang panjang lebar tu. Kak Teh mungkin pernah dengar dia tapi tak ingat macam mana. Tapi memang kak teh ingat nama dia .

Kak Teh said...

Naik tube, naik bas, jalan, naik tangga...termengah2 bila sampai. mujur tak tercungap2 masa siaran.

But I enjoyed every bit of it....if only the studio is near.

Thanks to both of you for listening.

Bangun pagi2 terus go online and listen to dondang sayan adoiiiiiii sayu nya...thanks kak teh and your voice rindu nak jumpa lagiiiii

Kak Teh said...

Kak elle, you main-main saja, tapi I dengan seseriousnya mencari lagu tu, belajar transfer ke mp3 untuk dimainkan di studio. But I knew you'd be fast asleep at that time.

Thanks for listening again, sekali sekala dengar lagu-lagu lama syokkan?

Thanks again Kak Teh for Pukul Tiga Pagi by Shawn Gazi.

Kak Teh!!!!

I had a hell of a marathon week and weekend...was on leave on Friday, which was meant for pakto time wt hubby after my 20 week check up...but my son no 2 had an athma attack and the youngest girl caught the flu cough and fever bug...end up, all of had to go to ampang puteri, came back was flat, had to do the 100 cupcakes ordered for sat, saturday went to sil's hse who mentally was down with the CA125 damn news, only to get a phone call again for another 70 cupcakes for sunday. sunday went for my belajar masak class (tiramisu and classic italian pizza), came back had to attend to hajar who was cranky due to demam selsema batuk, put her to sleep and i zzzz, only to realise on monday on the way to work i missed yr show again...tak payah tunggu sekejap lagi lah.....but tq so much for playing the song!! this week is another marathon week....alhamdulillah, at least i ada kerja when a lot of people dok termenung tak ada kerja kena retrench or tak ada kerja!

have a brilliant week kak teh!

kak teh,

wahh happeningnya yr week...best!

NanaDJ said...

Kak Teh,
Pity I miss your program, but I have heard you on RTM when you did the video on GUIT, so I know you have lovely voice - real broadcaster's voice!
Adibah Amin's mum is Ibu Zain not Siti Hawa. Siti Hawa Zain was originally with Radio Malaya Singapura but later on she settled down in KL and was with RTM until she retired. I used to get a lift from her to Dewan Bahasa (was working there during the University long vacation), mind you, DBP is a long way from Angkasapuri, but that's Mak Iti, always kind and lovable. She was one of the gems of RTM in those days. Salam.

Aiyoh never knew your voice sounds so lemak merdu, macam nak convert buat masak lemak je! Lazat!

Kak Teh,
Wow, enjoyed your radio show, just heard it. No wonder Pak Malim fell in love! Am sure if you are interviewing Zainaldin, it will be hilarious. Will tell him about you.
Salam

Kak Teh said...

Danial, I just stood in for the regular presenter and if and when they call me, its fine. also, it is too far to go. I wish the studio is nearer and in a safer area. But I heard that it will move to another place - even further. As it is a community radio, I am not paid. BUt I dont mind doing it as I enjoyed it.

Kak Teh said...

Dr Sam, hehe I wasnt actually rubbing shoulders with them, well not in that sense. (Ter) rub shoulders adalah - tak sengaja tu.
During the kelam kabut to take pictures, I found myself right infront of Sultan Pahang and was asked to move away, but he very sportingly asked me to just go ahead and take pictures. We have met several times and I knew he is a sporting one. I interviewe Sultan Pahang lastyear when he was given the Hon doctorate at the university of Bedfordshire.

Kak Teh said...

KG, your week was also so happening! But I hope your son is better now and that your SIL is comfortable. There's so much news about the big dreaded C now. We really have to take care of our diet.

ooooh, you have Pakto time? must allocate time one aaaah? I think I missed pakto time as well last week - where got time? Oh, the Tunggu sekejap I found on th enet wasnt very brilliant because it sounds echoey.

Kak Teh said...

NanDJ, thanks for that piece of info on Siti Hawa Zain. and do remind Zainaldin Zainal that he hijacked me into his studio to interview me when I came back form London to promote BBC Malay Service. I was actually on my way to the Selamat Pagi Malaysia studio with Kak Mahani Ujang. I tell you, I couldnt stop laughing as he was wearing my earings and his face was expressionless when he interviewed me. I was in stitches and my husband who was driving heard me on radio and was quite annoyed because I wasnt serious, he said. aiyooo, that was so long ago!
aaaad, yes, I met up with Nurlida saidi - my husband still has a crush on her.

Kak Teh said...

Roti, sedao kan lagu tu? Kak teh pun rasa macam nak menari dalam studio, but ehem, I have to behave myselflah , kan?

Any chance of it being a more permanent feature?

By the way, do you happen to know where in KL can we get our hands on the CDs for some of those songs that you played?

Kak Teh said...

Kenny, she was wearing deep blue and i wore something like turquoise - and like i said - mine was bought at kl sentral..love that dress!she is such a socialite..walking around, stopping at tables to say hello.

Nancy dello'llio was pouting and posing whenever a camera was pointed at her. she of course came to fame as ex gf of sven goran eriksson.

Kak Teh,

I've been burried with work the last few weeks. Ahhh....it's only now I managed to listen to this program. Wow...you sound lurrrvvvlyyy!! So sedap yr voice, lunak-lunak merdu gitu :)

And I'm midway thru the program now, listening you say "Chiki Chiki Boom.." so s-e-x-y nyer Kak Teh...sama mengancam dengan Saloma!!!!

Let us know when you going on air again. Love the show, loveee the show!!! Rasa macam you so, so close!!!

Kak Teh said...

Kay, I knew you were busy. I was also swamped with work and was so tired that Sunday of the broadcast. But as I had promised to do the programme, I had to make the treks - quite a distance, by tube and then by rail as sunday services are usually interupted by engineering works.
Thanks for having the patience to listen. Am thinking of doing a special broadcast - not for the radio station BUT for the blog - a special for Mother's Day. So, will work out the programme and then we can all request songs...how abt that?
