An Appeal to help Mercy Malaysia to help the children of Gaza

Salam all,
A small request from me. To everyone who clicks on this page, please stop to say a prayer - Al Fatehah or any other prayers - to the people of Gaza. Terima kasih.

I have not been able to update my blog for obvious reasons. Nothing that came to mind was appropriate. There's so much sadness and grief coming from Gaza where children and innocent people are being killed. Many are suffering and as I write this the number of victims and casualties is increasing.

This morning, I woke up to an email from a blogger friend Elviza Michele- with a simple request. I gladly paste it below. And please convey the message to people you know:

"Mercy Malaysia has, on 30th December 2008, formed an Emergency Response Assessment Team to face the humanitarian crisis in Gaza strip. The team has been promptly dispatched to Egypt led by President, Datuk Dr. Jemilah Mahmood and Exco Member Norazam Ab. Samah.

The air strike and ground offensive on Gaza - as reported by AlJazeera - have killed more than 700 Palestinians, 219 of which are children. More than 3000 have been wounded.

Therefore, Mercy Malaysia appeals to generous Malaysians to send it cash donations. Contributions will support Mercy Malaysia to procure emergency surgical kits, medicines and hospital equipments to help the hospitals in Gaza.

  • Cheque is to be made payable to “MERCY MALAYSIA” and addressed to Mercy Malaysia, Level 2, Podium Block, City Point, Kompleks Dayabumi, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, 50050 Kuala Lumpur.
  • Cash donations can be made via on-line transmission or deposit at CIMB Bank Account No: 1424-000-6561053.
  • Donation form can be downloaded from here.
  • Further enquiries are to be directed to +603-22733999 or info@mercy.org.my

Let us make a difference by whatever little we have. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your generosity."

Al Fatehah.

No matter how little our contributions are, help them we must.
As believers in the hereafter, we will definitely be asked what we have done to help our brothers and sisters there.

Salam Kak Teh,
It is quite unforgivable; what the powerful are doing to the Palestinians.
Referring to the French Revolution, Mark Twain wrote : "There were two Reigns of Terror, .....the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years"

The consequences of the terrorization of the Palestinians will last a
thousand years and our descendants will ask "Why didn't we stop this?"

We normally give to Islamic Relief but we shall support Mercy Malaysia

Komen Pak Malim kucing ray yg alim.

Melihat gambar2 ahli keluarga yg meraung melihat orang tersayang mati di depan mata, memang menyayat hati, kata Pak Malim sambil naik pedati. Those who have lost a loved one, will truly understand that grief.

Thank you, thank you all -
I just burst into tears seeing your response.

Chahya, no matter how little it helps.

Ms Hamid, thank you for your support.

Dr. Do pass the word around too.

Pak Malim, kita yang lihat gambar tak tahan melihatnya, macam mana agaknya orang itu sendiri, kan?

Dear Kak Teh,

I feel the same just as you do. How could we be writing about the "we haves" when the innocent children in Gaza are sent to their graves in a manner which is so detestable.

A few of us were talking about Mercy's plight in the office late this evening. We certainly will be putting in our bit.

Thanks Kak Teh for sharing.

Thank you Kak Teh because for this, InsyaAllah, you will be blessed. Muslims must wake up and really, truly do ALL we can - united and together...

Ms B said...

KT,

err...macam berjanji pulak re posting?

Yes. small or big, its the thoughts that matters. We try to help in our own ways..

Kak Teh said...

Kay, events like these put things in perspective for us. Apalah sangat dugaan kita? and yet we complain.
Let us pray and pray for them.

D - unity is what we need but that is something we still lack.

Ms B , the blog world resonates with prayers and appeal for the victims in Gaza - let us join them with what little we can offer.

Kak Teh,

This is the LEAST we can do.Kan? Kan? To make a contribution to end some suffering.

Kak Teh,
Yes its really heart breaking to see those little children lying down in a row whereas they should be smiling and jumping around. When Utusan Malaysia publish the picture of the little girl's head, I went around in tears for the whole day, and that lump in my heart is there till today.
I admire Dr Jamilah and her team who never fail to do something, they make us feel so small. Will certainly help Mercy in whatever small way that I can. Salam.

Assalamu'alaikum Kak Teh,

Two things gave me a much needed knock on the head for me early this morning, your latest post, and watching the eminent Dr Lim Swee Tin as guest on TV 3's MHI.

Kak Teh,confession time... I've been sneaking into your blog on a regular basis since months back, tak pernah bagi salam, tak tau selok belok blogosphere ni, maklumlah, saya late starter, yang memang jauh ketinggalan macam2!

So, Kak Teh, i hope somehow ada cara untuk dapatkan puisi itu, then you'll know what i mean... he's really superb at weaving just the right words to powerfully evoke our sentiments, deklamasi beliau menumpahkan air mata saya!Bukan setakat tengok gambar2 menggerunkan dan menyayat hati saja mampu mengeluarkan airmata keinsafan kita, bahkan mendengar bicara puisi Dr Lim pun pasti amat mengharukan dan mampu menyedarkan.

We do whatever we can within our means, and perhaps more... itu pengajaran yang saya dapat.

Salam,

Farina of course we must not forget those brave aid workers who are riskingtheir lives. Indeed we have seen that many UN aid workers, ambulancemen have become victims of indiscriminate attacks.

lyana , I understand - for all of us feel the same.

mekyam, they are doing admirable job in an almost impossible situation.

Kak Teh said...

Aida, yes, no matter how small a donation and how brief a prayer. Last nite at our surau, there was a collection box going around. Insyaallah.

NanaDJ, thank you -the lump might go away but the pictures will remain with us forever. Thank you for your prayers.

Pi Bani, you took the words out of my mouth - but it sounds better coming from you. It does put things in perspective.

Kak Teh said...

Zawi, terima kasih.

Deli, terima kasih - kita buat apa yang termampu.

Jade, any effort to create awareness is appreciated. Thank you.

Zaitgha, thanks for spreading the word as well.

CT salam. Terima kasih kerana sudi mengunjung dan sama-samalah kita berdoa.

Mama Rock, Al Fatehah.

Hi Kak Teh,

This carnage is unbelievable. Leaders today show little care for the common people.

It is great that we are spreading the word around to appeal for help to alleviate pain of the victims of Gaza.

Kak Teh said...

Ruby thanks. Dont know what to say anymore.I hope aid and medicine will continue to go in to help the injured.

Kak Teh,

I am with you and the others in praying for peace, mercy and protection for the people of Gaza.

It is outrageous that such brutality can exist despite worldwide outcry against the savage attacks!

May the hand of God/Allah intervene to stop this war and spare the innocent lives.

Take care....

Kak Teh said...

elviza thanks and no problem at all.

Ida, its the feeling of helplessness that's is making me so depressed.

Kak Teh said...

Ezza Insyaallah kita doakan yang terbaik.

paula, there are victims - innocent victims on both sides. To stop this they must come to their senses and face each other and talk. Even with the pease resolution - the bombing goes on.enough is enough, dont you think?

Al Fatihah.

Many of us feel exactly the same, Kak Teh. We are so thoroughly sickened by what is happening in Gaza.

Imagine being injured and then placed in a rubbish dump -- for that is what the UN has said about the conditions in Gaza.

its the feeling of helplessness that's is making me so depressed.

I'm in the same boat but we can write to inform others and join the boycott of Israel and US companies which support them. For small people like us a boycott is a good weapon. Look at it this way -- every time we forgo a latte or a coke or even a small packet of biscuits, we are striking a blow on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Gaza.

We can also write. For instance: even now Drs Mads Gilbert and Erik Fosse of NORWAC who are in al-Shifa hospital in Gaza are being attacked in mat salleh blogs -- and we should defend them even if we only write one sentence.

Kak Teh said...

Capt,
Thanks for the visit and thanks for those words.

Today, I stopped my son from going to show solidarity with the protesters. Usually, I would join in- in peaceful marches. But today, I had a feeling things might turn nasty and indeed - there were some skirmishes.

I feel bad stopping him , but like you said, there are other ways we can do it.
the number of times I say how helpless I feel, as if that feeling will go away and then perhaps I can do something. But the gloom has not lifted. The images are haunting me.
