Let us pray for her

If the story here is true then let us pray that she is guided back to the right path. I have written about her before here. This appeared today.

Myheardtbleeds, yes, let us pray for her. She must be so desperate to have fallen this far. What a waste of a life, a talented and gifted one.
Thanks for visiting.

melayudilondon, kak teh pun sedih tak terhingga. I went out and bought news of the world - and my newsagent said: Mrs Wan, what are you doing with THAT paper???

pak tuo, it is horrible that the NOTW had exposed her like this. Its just horrible.

pak adib, after i read the story this morning, i attended a function where i met quite a lot of malaysian officials. many are of the opinion that we shd help her. never mind what nationality she is. I believe she needs help and is reaching out for help. Let us doa for her.

yatie, salam and thank you for the visit. I am saddened by the news as i feel that i know her. doakan supaya dia selamat dan akan pulang ke pangkuan ibunya.

read the news this morning.
istighfar panjang i lepas tu.
yes, we should help her back to the rightful path. I couldn't help thinking about her ibu..kesian! orang lain ambik kesempatan on such news!

Let us all pray for her!

Kak Teh said...

onde-onde, sama-sama kita doa. She's a grown woman and at the end of the day, the decision is hers, kan? But I hope she will be alright.

MrsNordin said...

Poor girl! Reading this, I worry for the other small wonder boy (what's his name? Adi Putera or something). I think, we should allow children to develop at their own pace.

Do not add unnecessary pressure on them. What she's doing just shows how much resentment she has against her parents & the way she was brought up. I just hope she'll meet someone who will save her.

Kak Teh,

A succint 2 liners from you. It s true, I dont think blowing this news out of proportion will help Sufiah in an way.

Just like any other lost souls out there, we must help her find direction not condemn her.

May Sufiah finds what she is looking for in no time for her current chosen path (if its true) is wrong.

Kak Teh,

We were also talking about this at the office. Sooooo kesian and I honestly couldn't finish reading the whole news. Sedih, and tak sampai hati. You are right, Kak Teh, let's all doa for her to be brought back to the right path. Aameen.

mrs nordin, when i first covered her story, i also interviewed an expert on gifted children. sadly what he said is true - that they dont end up as we expect them to. i was hoping against hope that this is not the case because she is such a sweet girl.

elviza, the last time when i met her, (if you read my link) i promised i wont write abt her whereabouts although editors were all askig me to find her. i thought we shld let her be as she was then beginning to find her place in society - no more the sheltered daughter, and no more the runaway girl from publicity.
and now this!

ms hart, indeed, not a pleasant read. i wish i can reach out to her.

hej! kak teh...what a shocked news from NOTW! a sad story of life, very disturbance...but i don't know that if the story is a sad thingy to sufiah. however, i feel sorry for her family especially her mother. i don't know whether she needs help or not, because she's a grown woman now, she has the right to choose what is best for her, and i feel sorry if this way just to get revenge from her family. what a cruel world out there. gifted doesn't mean that a child is gifted of life, a child still need a proper guidance to face the challenging world out there. i wish she will find solace one day with her life and family. and may she find ways to compesate her lost childhood... :(

Kak Teh said...

danial ma, anything that comes out from the NOTW is meant to shock, and this time shock us it did. When I read a message onmy YM abt it, i went to my newsagent to buy the paper. My newsagent, a mr patel looked at me and said: Mrs Wan, What are you doing with THAT paper?? so i had to explain. In th etube, i had to be very careful reading it...well, i had too for work purposes, kan?
anyway, it is sad that she has come to this. Just hope that she knows that there are people who care and willing to help. am sure her family still loves her.

ON a lighter note, she keeps her good math on active mode charging GBP130/hour for those hedonistic act.

I am not among those yang kesian with her sangat if she behaves like this. Well, 1)she is a rebel with or without a cause, let her experience it herself , coz i dont think she is bang out of order. She looks pretty much sane and she's doing anarchy of sort. and 2) She grew up too fast! she could be compared to wacko jacko but she's somehow the smarter one.
She has a lot of guts selling such a service on the internet and she looks like she kinda enjoys hurting those akin to her.

For whatever reason she is doing, one day, she will realise what she has done and I hope she will, because a smart girl like her will come to her senses the easy way or the hard way.

After all, she's not someone who will fall for more pressing, and more "word of wisdom". The day that she feels God's love will be the day she will return to the right path.

Manal, she hasnt had the normal ubringing that most children enjoyed. she had lost her childhood and plunged into marriage quire early. A divorcee at the age of 20? she is still searching for her identity. I am more inclined to sympathise with her. But thanks for your thoughts.

mulan, terima kasih. kita sama-sama berdoa.

adikku po telah bersuara. I read it and it is very touching. It can only be po.

I'm not particularly sympathetic, but I do understand that she had a very different childhood than what I had, so perhaps, after all the accelerated learning regime that she went through, the rapid decline in mental health began. I'm sad to hear about how she turned out. The genius is in the brain, but the self-destructiveness came from the heart. There must be a way to reconcile these two so that she would be guided to the right path again.

Kak Teh said...

sue, i understand and i have read many unsympathetic comments abt her. after all she is already 23 and she made the choice. But it did cross my mind if she had had a different upbringing, would she be where she is now?
i know and have written abt another child genius - also half malaysian. she is perhaps the best i can say who managed to reconcile her 'gift' with leading a normal life.

I understand your sentiments, Kak Teh, and yes, her upbringing and unique situation has a lot to do with it.

But as an adult, the decision is still hers. I hope I don't sound cruel, it's just that the main lesson I've learned which differentiates me being a child and a grown-up is simply being responsible for my actions, no matter what led me in that direction.

It's not easy, but we all learn at our own pace. My prayers go out to her and everyone who needs a bit more faith in themselves.

We all do.

Kak Teh said...

kenny, she was fasttracked to adulthood. that's the problem. i wonder if she has friends she can confide in, friends who could have advised her. yes, ultimately it was her decision. but what drove her there, one wonders.

I received the message below in my email, for Sufiah:

Dear there,

After reading your plight from the nst paper i find that you really have to ponder and
instead of continue to fall further you should analyse how,why and where you fall and
learn from there after you stand up and start walk again. Forget about the pass and
start a new life god had tested you and given you the inborn talent you should use them
in the good way to enhance your own life and contribute to the public. Whatever had happened to you is no big deal not the end of life for now there are others who even
experience worst scenario them you like owe people huge sum of money and leading
a life that is uncertain and bearing fear all times. Just think over deeply so what on whatever
that have happen all this while compare to killing people and all the corruption that happen
over the world .

life has to go on by yourself no others , it may be a bit difficult to do than said in the beginning but once you already change your mind the evil will not disturd you and the god
will come in to assist you and give strength.

with highest regards from ........aunty jenny tan

take good care of yourself

aunty jenny

p.s. please forward this massage to sufiah tq.

I can't believe this is the same girl in the graduation picture. Honestly, many questions are circling in my mind. She could use her brains to earn money instead of her body. Was she rebelling against herself and her family? She needs to love herself. I hope and pray that God will use someone to guide her back to the right path.

Kak Teh said...

thank you aunty jenny. I hope sufiah reads all these messages of support and know that people care.

wonda,thank you for yr prayers.

Salam kak teh,
(First time commenter long time lurker.)
I'm sadden that the former child prodigy Sufiah current life style has been exposed by the tabloid paper like that. Hopefully, she doesn't make any irrational decision thereafter. Although she excelled in her maths/academic , she was obviously suffering psychologically and she NEEDS HELP (sooner rather than later). I think people don't really realise that gifted/talented children are extremely sensitive /emotional/complex beings and this aspect should not be abandoned while achieving academic excellence. They too need love, nurture and a balanced life.
I hope she has some family/friends close to her that could help her to rebuild her life instead of leaving her out in the cold again.

Kak Teh said...

Earthmom, I have visited the family. Alhamdulillah they are coping and insyaallah, efforts are being made to locate her. It is indeed a cry for help. Let us pray for her well being. Thanks for the visit.

Salam Kak Teh
She has given “intellectually stimulation” a different meaning.
We’re told she’s a British citizen (her father is Pakistani and her mother is Malaysian) and of legal age to make her own decision with regards to her life.
Isn’t it also our responsibility as fellow Muslims to help her?

Kak Teh said...

Fauziah, ya we can all try to help her but we have to find her first. I see the ministry and other organisations wanting to make the trip to london - but where do they start the search? I think she will be found and wants to be found. A cliche - but this is a cry for help, kan?

Take a look at this blog. Is it true what she says? 130 British pounds to subscribe to the Yusof Family newsletter?

http://www.chanlilian.net/2008/04/11/imho-sufiah-yusofs-mom-seems-so-fake-and-conniving/

Kak Teh said...

hi anon, I am not sure about that. I couldnt find anything that suggests one has to pay £130 for the newsletter - if that is the case -- it is really a money making venture. A book costs less than that! Thanks for the info.
