My dearest Ruby Ahmad - Al Fatehah

Al Fatehah - Ruby Ahmad - you had been such a dear friend.  I am so lost for words.  Thank you for the brief friendship that we had.

We met on the net - the go for it kind of person that never failed to bring a smile, and lift you out of your doldrums.  She had time for everyone, she'd listen to anyone.  I had seen her work the Ruby Ahmad magic on people around me. Ruby, a truly amazing gem.  I will miss you, dearest friend.
Al Fatehah.

  6. Salam Kak Teh
Came as a shock when Ena told me this morning. Then friends on Facebook messaged me.
I bumped into her at KLCC last week. She was on her way to a meeting. If not, we would have coffee together. We complained about the weather and then said goodbye.
    It is a sad day.
Al-Fatihah for Ruby, semoga rohnya dirahmati dan ditempatkan di sisi orang-orang yang beriman.

  10. Ah,

You were the first to ask me about her passing early this morning...and we both swiftly got confirmation of her sudden unexpected death. I could hardly and still cannot believe that she's so gone. But, well... Allah SWT predisposes.
We knew each other well in cyberspace. But the thing is, we had met some 20 years ago when we wre both young, footloose and fancy-free when she was a young "entrepreneur" and I was a young reporter, at the umno egneral assembly at PWTC. We would bump into each other almost every year, but never managed to sit together and yak away becos we were both running around. Ti was aAlways a "hello", smile smile...and "bye bye"
Then came blogging. And the rest was history.
We had a name for each other and it was a private joke and it gave a real indication of the generation we belong to. whenever we greeted each other -- sms or phone call -- I'd call her "raquel welch" and she's call me "sophia loren"... a throwback to those early days (remember, Ah?)

    Al Fatehah....so sedih.

i cannot claim to know her intimately... but she wsa

  13. kak Teh,
I was shocked when Dena told me, surely not The Ruby. Not her. I miss her already, she with her positive charges ready to infect anyone nearby. Always smiling always cheerful - i imagine her typing away her blog entries all with a smile on her face... Blogosphere will not be the same again.
    Many Alfatehah for her.
And kakTeh, i miss you, today, even more so.

  19. Shocking...indeed shocking...how she kept her illness a secret and all.

kak Teh, i have yet to meet her in person though we did talk about meeting up and all through our cyberchats.

AlFatihah to a jewel of the bloggerspace, may she rest in peace, may God bless her soul to the eternity. And lets all remember her for all her legacies and her cheerfulness and her "go-for-it girl" attitude. I am totally saddened by her passing. I am. Words cannot describe how deeply sad I am now upon hearing this even though she is yet a real life friend. But she has been a friend in need even if its only in the cyberspace.

  29. Salam Kak Teh,

its been a while since I stumble into here. Ruby's departure is just too soon and I'm just too stunned. It seemed that everything was okay few days back.

Its amazing that through her, I found your blog. Will definitely miss her a lot.

  30. Dear Kak Teh,

I am shocked and saddened by the loss of our dear Kak Ruby. I only found out last night, through your blog and it was such a great shock, I couldn't find the words till now.

I was reminiscing about what a wonderful person she was with my Senior Vice-President, a formidable lady herself and Kak Ruby's schoolmate. She bemoaned the fact she wasn't able to meet up with Kak Ruby for tea before she left us.

And I think, that is exactly how precious and brief life can be. Let us not grieve over our losses but move forward, and share the light they shone on us with others.

In her memory, I am dedicating my latest blog post to Kak Ruby. It seems appropriate to do this via our blogs. She would have appreciated it, I think.
